Microbiome Protect for a Balanced Gut
Just recently, though, I was knocked off my feet for over a week by one heck of a flu that included pretty much the entire laundry list of possible symptoms. My lack of preventive care since the holidays came painfully back to me. Lesson learned.
Of course, no one can guarantee, no matter how much they try, that they can 100% prevent getting sick, but we can tilt the odds in our favor with good diet, lifestyle, and even supplement choices …
In my case, a recent new product from Douglas Labs would’ve been a good choice to add to my regimen to keep my immune system functioning optimally. Microbiome Protect is three products in one that are all designed to help maintain a healthy gut environment, which in turn helps keep our immune response strong.
- IgY Max, the first product, is made from ‘hyperimmune egg’, which is rich in antibodies that protect against 26 specific pathogens that can be present in the human gut. IgY helps support the thin mucosal layer that protects our bodies from incoming threats. IgY may also improve markers that play a role in food sensitivities and inflammation.
- Lactospore, or bacillus coagulans, is a special strain of probiotic that is resistant to breakdown by bile in the digestive tract. It is a lactic acid producing bacteria that proliferates quickly, and creates a good environment for other friendly bacteria to flourish.
- Bio-Ecolians is a fermented oligosaccharide fiber that doesn’t get broken down in the digestive tract, but supports the growth of friendly bacteria. It also promotes production of short-chain fatty acids and b-defensins, compounds that inhibit growth of pathogens in the gut.
Together, these three products work to help create a balanced gut environment that can respond better to challenges from pathogens, especially during the winter season when we are more vulnerable. In the long run, too, having healthy gut immunity may protect against chronic illnesses, inflammation, and more. Microbiome Protect, along with good diet and lifestyle choices, may be a helpful preventive tool for immune and gut health.
