Integrative Therapeutics Neurologix
Beyond these current circumstances, our modern life is often more mentally taxing and complex, and as we have longer lifespans, we are also more at risk of cognitive decline. More recent research is looking at new models of how to improve both cognitive function and mood. Many studies have looked at oxidative stress and inflammatory pathways as key areas to intervene to prevent and reverse cognitive and mood issues. Several traditional herbs and nutrients have shown promise, and studies continue to grow in this arena.
This month’s featured product, Integrative Therapeutics’ Neurologix, is an exciting new product formulation based on some of this research. A potent combination of clinically researched and trademarked herbal extracts and nutrients, Neurologix is carefully balanced and designed to support focus, memory recall, mental agility, and mood while offering antioxidant protection to the nervous system for long term health.
Neurologix contains 4 key ingredients: Vitamin B6 in its active P5P form, Neumentix Spearmint extract, CDP Choline, and Saffron extract:
- Vitamin B6-P5P: 5mg
P5P, the active coenzymated form of vitamin B6, is essential for energy synthesis and conversion of brain neurotransmitters such as GABA and dopamine, among many other functions in the body.
- Neumentix Spearmint: standardized to 14.5% rosmarinic acid and 24% polyphenols, 450mg
Neumentix is an extract from a specially cultivated spearmint strain that is high in over 50 different polyphenols. Rosmarinic acid and other polyphenols in spearmint are powerful antioxidants that appear to enhance mental and physical performance. A placebo controlled sports nutrition study found that Neumentix improved agility and reaction performance over a 90 day period, taking effect within just 7 days1. In another placebo controlled study, the extract also showed improvement in working memory and cognitive function with aging adults aged 50-702.
- Cognizin CDP Choline: 250mg
Cognizin CDP Choline is a well known naturally derived nootropic that is highly bioavailable. Several studies have shown that it has multiple positive effects on brain health and cognition, improving memory, learning, protecting neuronal membranes, and playing a role in the synthesis of important neurotransmitters like dopamine and noradrenaline3. It is also being studied for potential to help with brain trauma recovery, addiction, and some movement disorders.
- Saffron Stigma Extract: standardized to .2% safranal and 3% crocins
Saffron extract has been used for many years in traditional Indian and Persian herbal medicine for conditions affecting mood, cognitive and neurological function. Active components safranal and crocins appear to have substantial antioxidant and neuroprotective effects and efficiently cross the blood brain barrier. In addition, saffron extract appears to have a positive influence on neurotransmitters such as GABA and dopamine. Multiple studies in animal models and humans show safety and significant benefits of saffron extract for memory, cognitive function, and mood4.
In keeping with the high quality, practitioner grade standards of all Integrative Therapeutics products, the formula is free of common allergens and fillers, and comes in a vegetarian capsule. 2 capsules daily is the suggested serving size. While the ingredients are well tested and generally recognized as safe, Neurologix is best taken with the guidance of your practitioner. It is also advised to consult your physician if you are pregnant, nursing, taking prescription medications, including anticoagulants, or have a bleeding disorder.
